The Global Accounting Control team aims to effectively support the Executive Board in managing the governance cycle, consolidation of accounts and regular external financial reporting. Within Global Accounting Control, Mid-Office is primarily responsible for reporting on treasury and risk management operations and proper accounting of these. Range of transactions is broad - starting from standard money market deals (deposits, loans, spot FX transactions), through debt instruments (including bonds) up to various derivatives (FX forwards, interest swaps, commodity swaps).
Job Description
- Control over Front-Office activities, understanding their impact on financial figures and ensuring that the ERP system provides output expected with accounting principles
- Control over all types of hedge relationships (cash flow hedges, fair value hedges, net investment hedge) in different markets (FX, interest rates, commodities)
- Executing month, quarter and year end close procedures (with operational involvement of Mid-Office team)
- Prepare the monthly Corporate Office treasury report on all treasury related positions
- Conduct Mid-Office controls such as: fair valuation completeness and correctness, impact of natural hedges, compliance of product types with existing hedging models, etc.
- Monitor all transaction confirmations, payment runs and suspense accounts
- Deliver detailed input data to the notes of financial reports in the area of financial instruments
- Ensure timely and proper planning and reporting of forecasting and budget process
- Ensure proper internal control and enhance of internal processes by eliminating non-value added activity/ reporting
- Providing input related to accounting of financial instruments during discussions with Global Treasury, Global Tax and other departments (upon needs), in some cases in form of accounting position papers
- Contact with ERP consultants in order to improve existing IT solutions and add new functionalities along with development of product range being entered into by Global Treasury
- Contact with external auditors in the area of financial instruments
Job Requirements
- Bachelor or Master Degree completed
- 5 - 8 years of relevant experience of which at least the latter 2 years in a treasury mid-office function, preferably in a large multinational
- Passionate about financial risk management and hedge accounting
- Thorough knowledge of treasury products and treasury accounting, including hedge accounting (IAS 3239)
- Good IT-knowledge (ERP implementation experience is a strong asset) and experience in designing and executing effective data processing (good knowledge of MS Excel is a must)
- Ready to respond accounting-wise to any new treasury solutions proposed and executed by Global Treasury
- Ready to provide guidance on treasury and risk management related accounting including all types of hedge accounting to other members of the group.
- Self-organized and ready to work under time pressure
- Open to new ideas and IT solutions as well as take initiative to thoroughly understand and then to optimize the position held
- Ready to actively participate in internal projects, where specific IAS 3239 related knowledge is required.
- Fluent in English
