Middle Office Analyst – Trading Firm – Sydney recruitment
Role Description
Operations
- Complete morning reconciliation before market opens
- Understand and complete the daily profit and loss calculation and distribute the daily PL report
- Check all broker fees to be paid and organize payment.
- Take care of any necessary cash transfers
- Complete all Daily operational processes and tasks
- Check on Margin calls and react immediately. When in doubt, check with Risk
- Discuss MO’s IT needs with team members. If needed, create and prioritize new Jira projects/task.
Compliance
- Ensure all Jobbing activities (Stamp Duty) meet the external compliance. Build and maintain a strong compliance culture. When in doubt, check with Compliance and Clearing.
- Ensure the reporting of the daily ASX Short Sell Report, ASIC short Position report SFC Short Position Report. If report failed, check with IT and compliance to solve problem.
Knowledge Management
- Maintain the latest policy, procedures and processes in Confluence/common functional drive for Mid Office so that the knowledge in the Mid Office will be maintained.
Clearing
- Maintain the latest Fee schedules and advise the management on fee negotiation with analysis if needed
- Maintain excellent relationships with clearing banks to manage the daily operational business
Monthly Audit
- Produce a monthly profit and loss reconciliation report to reconcile the PL with finance
- Understand any kind of FX risks in the Monthly audit and minimize the mistakes. When in doubt, check and discuss with team head.
Business Alignment
- Have regular communications with team members to understand the business requirements
- Communicate with team members about new processes, methods tools
- Attend weekly MO meeting
- Share all tools and processes available in other offices and proactively import best practice.
- Produce and distribute a detailed monthly direct costs analysis (HK)
Continuous improvement
- Make recommendations and implement changes to achieve improved efficiency, effectiveness or economy for the team.
- Keep abreast of the latest development of the respected job areas to ensure the department remains best practices.
Qualifications Education Requirements
- Tertiary education in Finance or related area
- Min. 2 years of relevant experience in a Middle Office function with a trading firm or Bank/ Clearing
- Strong financial market product knowledge (Listed Equity derivatives, ETF’s and FX)
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Well organized, detail minded, independent and good interpersonal skills
- Proficient in PC applications such as MS Excel, Access, Word and MySQL
