Middle Office Balance Sheet Control Analyst recruitment
The Middle Office Balance Sheet Control Analyst team is responsible for the daily control of core accounting processes and controls across the Middle Office in its support of Global Markets. We are specifically seeking to recruit an individual who has the ability and enthusiasm to perform various control project work streams and help to support and execute daily accounting control functions as required. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of a Global Markets accounting environment and demonstrate a control mindset. The team deals with a range of issues and opportunities, working predominantly with Middle Office, Operations and Finance.
3 Key Areas of Duties Include:
Line of Business Liaison:
• The initial point of contact for multiple Middle Office lines of business, assisting in any balance sheet and/or accounting control related items consisting of, but not limited to:
1. Balance sheet account reconciliation compliance testing – including oversight of work performed by offshore teams
2. Manual adjustment compliance testing or oversight
3. Dual approval
4. Segregation of duties
- Form working relationships with the afore mentioned lines of businesses to assist the teams in improving controls and developing efficiencies through best practices and reconciliation enhancement.
- Provide technical input, training, oversight, and review of output for the relevant LOB testing teams in India.
- Point person to assist in issue resolution pertaining to the balance sheet involving, but not limited to:
- Aged manual entries
- Risk identification and reporting
- Audit/Sox related items
- System migrations
- Global Financial Control
Regulatory:
- Ensure Middle Office is compliant with corporate policy and SOX regulations around manual entries and segregation of duties through mitigation of breaches, and prevention.
- Accounting Control representative for audit (both internal and external) to ensure all documentation is provided and resolutions documented.
Projects:
- Accounting Control project lead for in-house systems to provide both short term requirements and long term planning
- Develop and maintain all reporting for Accounting Control Middle Office both in a regulatory and non-regulatory capacity.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Degree in Accounting, Economics or a Financial or Quantitative degree.
• 4-6 years experience in an accounting, audit or related field.
• Detail orientated and strong control mindset. Should be a self-starter that can follow directions with limited oversight.
Additional Qualifications Highly Preferred:
• Proficient in Microsoft excel – demonstrated ability to handle large volumes of data proficiently
• Microsoft Access knowledge desirable. Strong communication skills – experience in dealing with counterparts at all levels of the organization, from Analyst to senior management.
• Experience in problem solving with little direction
• Project management skills/experience.
• Experience working with/ managing offshore teams
• Flexible work schedule when required
• Understanding of end-to-end flow of an Investment Bank e.g. Sub-ledger/ledger knowledge
• Knowledge of derivatives products across multiple business lines (Commodities, Equities, Rates, etc.)
• Knowledge of/experience with SOX 404 compliance and accounting policies.
