About the Role
Listed Equities, a division of Macquarie Investment Management (MIM), is one of the largest Australian equity managers and has a growing range of international equity strategies. The products managed by the Listed Equities division cover a broad array of investment strategies and markets. The team has four distinct strategies:
- Australian Quantitative
- Global Quantitative
- Australian Fundamental
- Asian Fundamental
The Australian and Global Quant strategies plus the Australian Fundamental strategy are based in Sydney, while the Asian Fundamental strategy is based in Hong Kong.
Our team of quantitative analysts undertake research across our entire range of products, both domestic and international, ranging from traditional index products to higher risk long-short funds.
We are currently seeking a Junior Quantitative Analyst and an Experienced Quantitative Analyst to join the Sydney team.
Working closely with the other members of the Listed Equities quant research and portfolio management teams, the Quantitative Analysts will be responsible for researching and developing the systematic strategies which underpin our equities funds. You will be responsible for:
- Generating new research ideas
- Testing and implementing research ideas using MATLAB, SQL, Excel/VB, Unix
- Monitoring the performance of our systematic models
- Maintaining and enhancing existing quantitative systems and processes
- Preparing responses to client and consultant requests
- Seeking ways to add value to the overall investment process
About you
You will have several years of experience gained in a similar role in the financial services industry. Your passion and knowledge of finance coupled with a strong ability to follow research through to implementation will be the key to your success in this role. You will also have:
- Strong academic results in finance, maths, actuarial, engineering, science or IT
- Programming skills (e.g. MATLAB, SQL, Excel/VB, Unix)
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Very strong technical skills
- A proactive and independent approach to work
