Introduction:
Our client is a leading supplier of facility services to the Ministry of Defence and they now have an immediate requirement for a Minor New Work Project Manager based in Catterick, North Yorkshire.

The successful candidate will carry out the project management of Minor New Works and Life Cycle works from conception to completion in accordance with our client's standards of productivity, quality and compliance with essential health and safety provisions.  This mainly relates to construction activities throughout the site.  You will also assist other site teams on related maintenance programmes during periods of low minor work activities.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have a clear and demonstrable background in managing construction programmes.  Suitable applicants are encouraged to apply immediately.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include the following:
- To control and manage all activities on Minor New Work projects and ensuring that contractors carry out the works to fulfill their obligations within agreed timescales, and in accordance with all statutory legislation and standards.
- Prepare technical specifications, schedules of work, contract documentation etc. Invite quotations / prices from the Approved Supply Chain; review/evaluate returned prices, liaising with Contractors as necessary to ensure that prices are fully compliant with KPI's and within the project cost accepted by the Client. 
- Prepare and regularly update project programmes.
- Production of Project Management Plans for those projects within your responsibility.
- Liaise closely with Site Estate Team Leader to identify and scope new work projects.
- To manage the works to meet funding parameters and commitments and to obtain Value for Money (VFM).
- To oversee the effective and timely delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive works.
- To provide sufficient and timely supervision, assessment and coaching to ensure teams are performing to agreed service and production levels
- To perform audits on completed and in progress works.
- To comply with all Health and Safety and Sustainability policies and procedures pertaining to your job role.
- Be available to cover other regional sites when required.

Applicant Requirements:
- The successful candidate needs to hold a qualification in Building / Civil Engineering or Electrical / Mechanical related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Good understanding of procuring building, building services, specialist projects and project management.
- Demonstrable knowledge in managing and supervising staff in the appropriate construction disciplines.
- Good working knowledge of Heath Safety legislation and environmental standards, statutory and MOD mandatory requirements, and experience of the requirements of the Asbestos at Work Act, DDA, and Energy Performance etc.
- Experience in the maintenance, extension, refurbishment, alteration and improvement to existing buildings of varying size, use, and construction.
- Ability to travel extensively between sites.
- Solving problems and taking decisions.
- Managing work and resources to achieve results.
- Management of safe system of work.
- Computer literate.
- A knowledge and understanding of contracts, construction methods, planning and health safety.
- Full driving licence.
