Mobile/Reporting Application Developer Job in Houston 77030, Texas US

The Human Genome Sequencing Center (HGSC) at Baylor College of Medicine seeks an enthusiastic individual to work with software in a rapidly evolving research environment to support the creation and reporting of clinical and research activity through mobile and web applications. As one of three large-scale sequencing centers funded by the National Institutes of Health, HGSC provides a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge scientists.

The Software Engineering team is currently seeking a member to develop mobile applications on iOS (iPad) and/or Android OS. In addition, the member shall have the responsibility of writing JQuery/HTML5 web applications that display data utilized by researchers and clinicians.

Responsibilities include:
*Work with technical leads to understand and develop use cases.
*Troubleshoot existing use cases, and communicate with users about future enhancements.
*Work with scientific users to understand their software needs.
*Train user base.
*Participate in requirements clarification, design, development and creation of unit tests.

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, or Statistics, or equivalent technical experience.

Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, or Statistics, or related field.

Required: Three years of experience in software development. Ability to program one of the following: Objective-C, Java, Ruby, Javascript, or an Object oriented language. Understanding of an agile development methodology.

Desired skills:
*One+ years of mobile experience (iOS/ iPhone/ iPad / Android).
*Published/deployed/provisioning mobile application experience.

Skills:
*Ability to be a generalist/"jack of all trades."
*Willingness to learn and be a team player.
*Understanding of HIPAA environments.
*Good interpersonal skills and experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
*Excellent communication skills.

Technology environment: java, google web toolkit, hibernate, moab, JQuery, mySQL/Oracle, perl, python, tomcat, archiva, maven, svn, RESTful services.
