Model Developer

An immediate opportunity has arisen for an experienced Model Developer to join our client, a major financial services company based in London

Key responsibilities of the Model Developer job will include:
-Design, develop, test and implement key risk infrastructure needed for Treasury's responsibilities principally through the roll out of EUC models, leveraging prep-processing systems in place. This is likely to cover:
oCreation / validation of target architecture
oDevelopment of EUC models required directly
oEnsuring that key systems, interfaces and databases are configured and data conversion/migration implemented to meet the goals
oPerforming and at times managing testing with assigned resource, including any data conversions or migrations
oEnsuring that all of the above is thoroughly documented and that models are built following industry best practice in a pragmatic way.
oEnsuring a well managed transition to the target operating model.
-Liaise with all necessary stakeholders in order to facilitate delivery of infrastructure and the target operating model. Build effective relationships within Treasury and with IT, Finance and Risk. Where appropriate escalate issues and areas for discussion / conclusion to the Senior Project Manager or Director of Treasury Risk
-Undertake ad-hoc projects to support Treasury.

The ideal Model Developer will possess the following attributes/skills:
-Delivery focussed, highly motivated, analytical self-starter committed to getting the job done under his/her own steam on time. Not afraid to 'get his/her hands dirty' but knows to seek assistance when needed. Organised with strong problem solving and communication skills, persistence and attention to detail.
-Possesses practical treasury / risk experience, understanding treasury activities (either from working in a traded markets or ALM function). Good understanding of interest rate products, industry standard pricing or risk. This could have been gained either from previous market risk, liquidity risk, ALM or product control roles.
-The candidate is expected to have very good EUC skills, in particular Excel, MS Access, VBA programming plus Bloomberg inc API. Exposure to either Summit or QRM/equivalent ALM system is advantageous. Experience with Business Objects, Visual Basic will be beneficial.
-A high degree of numeracy, probably maths to a good standard at A level or equivalent, is essential. Decent knowledge of statistics helpful. Good financial management skills including
