Job Description:
Primary Function:

Performs all operations and set-ups necessary to build complete product to be shipped or sent to stock. Maintains a smooth and efficient flow of product through the work group. Furnishes fellow workers, Supervision and Engineering staff with information and problems associated with manufacturing.

Typical Duties

1. Operates injection presses, deflashes and cleans parts. Checks parts for conformance specifications.

2. Runs press start-up analysis.

3. Helps set up test fixtures and conduct high voltage withstand (corona and hipot) testing.

4. Checks parts against Quality Assurance Instructions (QAI) and/or blueprints for acceptance.

5. Assembles, packages and labels complete kits and/or subassemblies with various hand and air tools.

6. Communicates any production problems to supervisors, utility and other operators and passes on instructions and information concerning problems to other shifts.

7. Defines non-conformances to the process. This includes determining simple types of problems encountered and helps to adjust equipment as required correcting condition causing non-conformance specifications.

8. Maintains good housekeeping to provide a safe work environment and follows all safety policies/procedures and lists non-conformance items.

9. Analyzes, reviews and records all quality issues, QAIs and blueprints on the appropriate forms and reports.

General

Operator must lift up to 20 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally must exert forces up to 50 pounds.

Work is basically performed in a standing position and can be hot, operators are subject to burns. Good hand/eye co-ordination and dexterity are needed because of close proximity to high RPM machinery.

Operator must have a thorough understanding of electrical test equipment being used and the safety procedures required in its operation. Operator must be able to make intelligent decisions concerning quality with the aid of written specifications.

Employee must be highly motivated and maintain proficiency in all areas of the department. Employee must be a self-starter and able to work with a minimum amount of supervision. Assignments vary depending on production requirements. Employee must be able to assist in debugging for production purposes any machine which is producing parts below acceptable quality requirements.

This job requires the ability to make assemblies from Bills of Materials and blueprints.

Operator will rotate to different jobs within module on a daily basis.

Minimum Qualifications

Training on the operation of specialized manufacturing equipment, basic blueprint reading and basic computer skills.

Ability to interpret production data, including scrap reports, productivity data, etc.

Problem-solving capabilities for simple cause/effect evaluations.

Complete high school education or equivalent.

Must possess basic communication skills and be willing to work as a team member with fellow production workers, Supervision and Engineering staff.

Knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools a plus.
