JOB DESCRIPTION:

Acton Montessori School is looking for a Lead Teacher.  The ideal Lead Teacher is Director 1 certified with proven experience in the Montessori education.  Lead Teacher applicants should have good classroom management experience, lesson creativity, a strong willingness to work with other teachers and be very reliable.  Our program works with children between the ages of 2.9 – 6 years of age.

The start date for this job is immediate.  Employment ends approximately five days after the last day of school.  Hours of employment are full day Monday through Friday.  There are additional times when your attendance will be required that are not reflected in this schedule, such as parent conferences, parent evenings, special events such as year-end celebrations. 

Duties/Requirements:

The ideal Lead Teacher needs to have excellent judgment in dealing with children and display a loving presence as well as an interest and capacity for enjoying young children.  Applicants must have the ability to discern the feelings and needs of children and show sensitivity, understanding and an ability to deal with out-of-bounds behavior.

·         American Montessori Society (AMS) certified lead teacher.

·         Ability to work full day.

·         Comprehensive understanding of Montessori education and philosophy.

·         EEC Lead Teacher Qualified. 

·         Bachelors or Associates degree in Early Childhood Education a plus.

·         Ability to lead assistant teacher.

·         Record keeping of children.

·         Supervise and maintain order of the classroom.

·         Provide early morning and noon child care with assistant teachers.

·         Ability to delegate tasks to assistant teachers.

·         Supervise and maintain order of the classroom.

·         Participate in writing the monthly newsletters.

·         Direct and lead group circle time activities/lessons.

·         Attend and contribute to staff meetings, workshops and parent conferences.

·         Attend all school functions.

·         Supervise children during all outdoor play periods.
