Position Description:
This wholly owned subsidiary of Morgan Stanley administers over $140 billion of hedge
fund assets. Using the firm's proprietary, globally accessible technology platform, the
business provides a full range of fund administration services, including daily accounting
and financial reporting; transfer agency and investor services; middle and back-office
support; and integrated portfolio analytics. Morgan Stanley Fund Services is supported by
more than 450 professionals based in New York, London, Dublin, Glasgow, Hong Kong and Mumbai
•MSFS has a distributed team of professionals deployed around the world performing functions in support of the business.
Responsibilities include:
•Review of risk incidents and their cause. Working with staff in the various functional areas to understand the cause of incidents and address solutions. Documenting the events and associated investigations. Analyzing the data to identify trends and key risks.
•Help lead a recurring program that reviews incidents, tracks remediation events, and, solicits input from the global team.
•Periodic audit of functional areas, including comparison of actual work processes to written procedures
•Recommendations for improving process and training based upon observations made.
•Reporting incidents when appropriate to the Morgan Stanley Enterprise-wide incident reporting system.
•Help to coordinate the counterparty due diligence effort as needed, e.g., for new MSFS client or service provider relationships
•Carry out the above in conjunction with a SAS 70 (Type II) environment.
•Assist in review of key risk areas and relevant training to promote risk mitigation, including with a focus on training for new staff.
Skills Required:
The successful candidate is likely to have the following qualifications and experience;
•Bachelor's Degree in accounting.
•Five years experience in accounting (audit related) or compliance related role.
•Experience in the Hedge Fund industry is preferred. Hedge Fund administration experience is a distinct advantage.
•Proven ability to advise/influence group managers, employees, and senior management.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
