Position Description:
Technology Information Risk (TIR) organization within Morgan Stanley is responsible to manage the Firm's technology and data related risks through implementing proactive, comprehensive, and consistent practices across the Firm to protect franchise while capturing business opportunities.

Environmental Risk team, which falls under TIR organization, is a newly established team based in Asia. It aims to gather objective data within our environment to explore the opportunity to investigate incidents, identify risks and understand the effectiveness of controls and risk programs in a repeated and consistent fashion.

To support this, one of the projects the team has kicked off recently is to setup a consolidated risk data warehouse to source environmental data from various systems within the Firm and build data analytics around the data warehouse. The data warehouse is expected to source potentially large amount of metrics and dimensional data sources in order to enable dynamic, rapid turnaround and even ad-hoc risk data analysis. At the same time, it addresses some of the limitations currently in terms of flexibility to slice-and-dice the data, as-on / as-of reporting, ability to correlate data between subject areas, etc.

We are actively looking for experienced data modeler / database developer to lead this effort. The qualified candidate must be able to lead the team to establish the data model, understand the business aspect of the incoming data, implement the extract-transform-load (ETL) processes and build business intelligence platform for the data warehouse. In addition to that, the ideal candidate would possess good server-side programming skills, preferably an experienced Java developer.

Skills Required:
- Bachelor degree with 5+ years of hands-on experience in database development (e.g. building stored procedure, database design and data modeling) or distributed software development experience (Java, JUnit, XML, SOAP, MQSeries, Spring)
- Solid experience in DB2 RDBMS platform, especially in database/table partitioning, DPF environment, OLAP data queries, performance tuning, etc.
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills in English
- Self-motivated and achievement-oriented
- Strong analytical / problem solving skills
- Excellent team player that is capable of collaborating effectively with colleagues across the globe

Skills Desired:
- Experience in business intelligence platforms, such as QlikView and Business Objects
- Strong understanding with Linux/Unix development environment, scripting language (e.g. Perl) and programming (e.g. Java, C#)
- Understanding of a variety of web technologies (MVC, J2EE, JSP, JavaScript, Servlets, Struts, Ajax, JSON, Flex, BlazeDs)
- Experience in developing risk related applications
