Mortgage Fraud Investigations

There is now an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mortgage Fraud Investigator to join this energetic, enthusiastic and creative team. The main purpose of the role will be to manage and investigate potential Mortgage Fraud cases, both before and after drawdown of funds. 

The main responsibilities of the Mortgage Fraud
 Investigator include but are not limited to:
Key responsibilities:


• Investigate and manage potential fraudulent mortgage applications to mitigate the risk by utilising the fraud prevention tools as appropriate.
• Provide advice and guidance to key Stakeholders on matters relating to external mortgage and internal fraud.
• Report and escalate fraud events in a timely manner to mitigate risk and comply with escalation policies.
• Analyse and investigate fraud alerts from systems and other sources and case manage the investigation. 
• Build contacts within other financial institutions and External Authorities (e.g. Home Office, Immigration Service, Passport Office, Police, HMRC, DWP) with a view to assisting in fraud prevention and detection.
• To provide timely and clear reports to management as appropriate, upon the outcome of investigations. 
• Recognise and understand the complaints policy.
 Skill set required:
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Inquisitive and ability to investigate issues in a logical and thorough fashion.
• Good organisational skills, attention to detail.
• Be able to work without supervision and use initiative. 
Knowledge and Experience:
• Knowledge of Lending Policy and Procedures.
• Basic understanding of fraud trends in fraudulent activities within the industry generally.
• Broad experience of the mortgage market and LBG specific experience.
• 3 years plus experience in Financial Services and mortgage underwriting experience is ideal, preferably with experience of working in an investigations function or similar.
