POSITION OVERVIEW:
The International Data Team provides data support and services covering 21 markets including Canada, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore among others. The team procures meeting materials, notices and other relevant documents from multiple sources. Data from these documents are then parsed using MSCI proprietary information and are used for corporate governance research. The Data analyst will b supporting the Taiwan and China markets and would report to the Team Lead for the ASPAC Meeting Services team.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Procure and process meeting materials, company announcements and other relevant corporate governance documents of companies for relevant markets as assigned to meet stated turn-around goals.
- Conducts frequent monitoring of various financial, exchange and government regulator websites as well as corporate governance, data providers and public databases.
- Monitor key performance indicators for assigned data management area.
- Ensure adequate audit trails for data that is received or sent from production systems.
- Monitor quality control metrics to identify potential data issues and perform root cause analysis if data issues are identified.
- Ensure that all necessary and recent documents such as the notice of meeting, proxy form, annual report and information circular are attached to the database.
- Ascertain voting rights for Security ID Numbers.
- Collect data for meeting results information as required by the different markets covered.
- Perform coding, profiling and GRId data collection responsibilities
- Daily monitoring of the coding queue to ensure that all meetings are processed before the cutoff
- Daily allocation of workload to make sure that work is equally distributed within the team
- Utilize tracker to retrieve work assignments, monitor deadlines and record engagements and feedbacks
- Ensure that agenda items are properly coded and agenda descriptions match the agenda obtained from the Issuer
- Engage with the Issuer for discrepancies through emails and phone calls
- Ensure that meetings are accurately coded to minimize regressions
- Develop a basic understanding of the governance practices and policies for the international markets assigned to cover.
- Collect accurate and relevant data points ensuring the quality of the data utilized by various MSCI proprietary applications.
- Ensure that proper communication is established between the data analyst and research analyst, for internal queries
- Responsively attend to issuer requests and queries
- Participate in various working committees and/or projects.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or equivalent
- Knowledge and experience with MS Office
- Ability to work within a team-oriented environment
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Fluency in English
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Understanding of corporate governance issues, corporate transactions and capital markets
