The Multi-Currency Lending Product Manager will work within the global product management team responsible for driving the product strategy for, and development of, Well Fargo’s global lending capabilities. Specifically, this product manager will work to develop global lending solutions and their associated supporting platforms in order to advance the multi-currency lending capabilities available to customers of multiple business lines, including, but not limited to, global banking and global financial institutions.
This position is newly created as part of Wells Fargo’s extensive global expansion plans. This product manager will be responsible for defining future business requirements, and translating those requirements into a product offering that is consistent with the overall wholesale customer experience, line of business branch priorities and the targeted technology environment, while also ensuring alignment with local market practices.
Responsibilities
The primary areas of responsibility for the role are as follows:
• Day to day product management responsibility for European lending products/services delivered to customers on behalf of Wells Fargo business lines.
• Working collaboratively with representatives of multiple lines of business, across various levels of seniority, in order to facilitate the dialogue necessary to understand and document existing capabilities, define future business requirements and translate those requirements into a go-forward global lending roadmap for Wells Fargo.
• Coordinating global lending product implementation in close cooperation with other team members throughout the organization, including global product management, technology, customer service and implementation, legal counsel, external vendors, etc. while also ensuring programs and products adhere to compliance/privacy requirements, in-country regulations and bank policies.
• Working closely with sales and relationship teams in order to gain a thorough understanding of customer business requirements, and translating these requirements into new products or service enhancement opportunities.
• Development of product positioning through competitive market knowledge, pricing assessments, marketing promotions and communications.
• Working with operations and customer service teams to develop and document standard procedures and guidelines applicable in each global market.
Requirements
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Solid experience of working with market-leading multi-currency lending products and systems, e.g. Loan IQ, preferably gained in either a product management or loan operations role.
- A thorough understanding of the key lending roles in which the bank may engage across various European markets and how the potential delivery solutions and options need to be adjusted in order to address the lending role performed.
- Previous experience with navigating the complexity of extending credit to customers in a global environment, including the implications to foreign exchange processing, trade products and customer support structures.
- A sound understanding of, and active interest in, global financial market practices across multiple regions including, but not limited to, detailed knowledge of lending instruments, payment types, information reporting channels, international clearing systems operations, foreign exchange practices, trade settlement and liquidity management techniques.
- Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into specific business requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong command of English.
- Creative and strong customer-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office, including PowerPoint.
Preferred Skills
- Previous and demonstrably successful experience working on large scale and complex global development projects with a leading financial institution.
- Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours to accommodate discussions and interaction with colleagues located in other regions and time zones, occasionally at short notice.
- Previous experience of working in an international location, across different cultures and with teams based in different countries.
- Project management and/or treasury management certifications
