Multimedia Designer 1

Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking a Multimedia Designer/1 - Animation Specialist to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

This position will be located in Huntsville, Alabama.

Our VTS team is looking for an animator with experience using specialized software packages like 3DS Max, to create animations for both in-game behaviors and predefined sequences (or cut scenes). Animators need a strong understanding of classic animation principles such as staging, squash and stretch, timing, anticipation, follow through, exaggeration, arcs, etc., as well as an intrinsic aptitude for storytelling. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Virtual Training Systems (VTS) team. We create industry leading multimedia based training systems for varied programs that include the Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Battle Command System (IBCS), C-RAM Contractor Manning, Air and Missile Defense Planning and Control Systems Tactical Support (ATS), and Command Post Platforms (CPP) and others. Products include game-based training applications, immersive interactive environments, interactive multimedia instruction (IMI), and embedded training. Our products incorporate 3D modeling, avatars, artificial intelligence, motion sensing, voice recognition, and other cutting edge technologies.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Working independently and as part of a team
* Working with proprietary animation run-time integration tools
* Organizing work production within the overall production schedule
* Managing files and meeting deadlines
* Communicating effectively with team members and management
* Rigging and skinning characters for animation
* Animating the human form
* Animating in realistic and stylized motion

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
* 2 years experience in game development using 3DS Max, or equivalent 3D program
* 2 years experience in animating human bipedal figures, as well as other organic life forms of all shapes, sizes, and locomotion
* 2 years experience with and a thorough understanding of animation pipelines, and the processes involved from the conceptual phase to implementation, including character rigging
* Demonstrated ability to learn and work with new software applications
* Knowledgeable of the technical aspects of rigging and skinning characters for animation
* Demonstrated ability to animate the human form, giving the character weight, personality, mood, and believability (samples will be requested)
* Demonstrates a strong understanding of classic animation principles and fundamentals
* 3 years of related experience with an AA will be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
* Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
* Bachelors Degree
* Shipped PC or console titles as a character animator
* Experience in FX and particle animation to help create explosions, and other game effects
* Some scripting and/or programming experience with C++, C#, Java, HTML, XML, or similar applications
