Macquarie Funds Group (MFG) is Macquarie Group's funds management business. MFG is a full-service asset manager, offering a diverse range of capabilities and products including infrastructure and real asset management, securities investment management and structured access to funds, equity-based products and alternative assets. The group had $A324 billion in assets under management as at 31 March 2012.
MFG has been managing assets for institutional and retail investors since 1980 in Australia and 1929 in the US, through a predecessor firm of Delaware Investments. MFG has global reach, with a team of approximately 1,400 staff in Australia, Asia, Europe, the UK and the US.
MFG has the following business divisions:
- Macquarie Investment Management (MIM)
- Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA)
- Macquarie Specialised Investment Solutions (MSIS)
MIRA in India, in partnership with the State Bank of India, manages a US$1.2 billion pool of capital for infrastructure investments through two separate funds. Of this amount, approximately US$1 billion has been invested in eight assets across sectors such as roads, power generation, renewable energy, airports and telecom towers. The MIRA team in Mumbai has 15+ professionals that are responsible for all aspects of fund management including raising capital, making investments, managing assets, divestments, investor relations and fund operations and financial control and reporting.
There is currently an opportunity for an experienced professional to join the investor relations and fund operations team in Mumbai.
Role and responsibilities include:
- Managing relationships with investors, including co-ordinating responses to investor queries and requests;
- Preparing and distributing periodic and ad hoc investor reports, including fund updates, asset updates, valuations, cash flow forecasts, etc;
- Co-ordinating (in combination with the finance team) capital draw-downs from investors, distributions to investors, capital injections into portfolio companies, receipt of dividends from portfolio companies, etc;
- Planning and preparing materials for board, investment committee, investor committee and advisory committee meetings, and ensuring effective administration of all meetings;
- Managing relationships between the fund and internal stakeholders, including finance, compliance, company secretariat, etc;
- Managing relationships with external service providers, including administrators, registrars, auditors, legal advisers, etc;
- Managing and co-ordinating internal reporting obligations, including periodic compliance reporting;
- Maintaining fund information, including, investor details, asset details, etc;
- Maintaining various registers, including investor queries and complaints, policy and regulatory obligations and breaches, etc;
- Managing fund records and document storage;
- Identifying and implementing ongoing process improvements; and
- Managing other aspects of fund administration as may be required from time to time.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have at least 3-4 years of work experience, of which at least 1-2 has been in investor relations/ operations or finance experience in an infrastructure or private equity fund management environment;
- Possess an accounting or similar tertiary qualification with excellent academic results;
- Be highly motivated, energetic, and able to meet challenging targets with limited supervision;
- Have outstanding interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills;
- Basic financial modelling skills will be desirable not essential
- Possess exceptional attention to detail; and
- Have a strong desire to generate improvement in processes and run them as efficiently as possible.
