Seeking mutual fund paralegal with experience in investment Company act of 1940.
Responsibilities:
- Drafting broker-dealer, sales/distribution and operational/recordkeeping agreements for open-end mutual funds.
- Drafting business communications.
- Prioritizing agreements and meeting tight turnaround times for twenty-five relationship managers
- Maintaining complete, thorough, and accurate status of agreements in an organized fashion
- Developing and maintaining internal information data bases. Creating new processes for data maintenance, storage and retrievals.
- Searching internal and external data bases for information regarding potential counterparties and agreements and ensuring that events such as funds/mergers are reflected in contractual amendments
- Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with relationship management teams and other departments including legal, compliance, mutual fund operations and product development group
- Managing internal client expectations and liaising with external clients
- Participating in new product offerings and operational initiatives
- Monitoring, assessing and escalating due diligence items
- Providing a variety of direct clerical and administrative support assistance services to the team which include, maintaining calendars, scheduling conferences and meetings, answering calls and arranging travel.
Qualifications:
- College degree required and paralegal certificate preferred
- Minimum 2-4 years experience as a mutual fund paralegal
- Experience with general principles of commercial contract drafting, and ideally, broker-dealer, sales/distribution and operational/recordkeeping agreements for open-end mutual funds
- Experience with any, or all of the following: mutual fund registration, broker-dealer and regulatory compliance
- Superior communication skills, both written and oral; candidate must be able to meet face to face with senior management and address issues in a competent, articulate and timely fashion
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a highly regulated, fast paced environment
- Candidate must be proactive and able to work both independently with little supervision and as a team player
- Excellent computer skills including use of word and excel
