Our Americas Distribution is currently seeking a Mutual Fund Reporting Associate to join our team.
This position is based in Stamford, CT.
Department Overview:
The Marketing team is responsible for driving the marketing strategy and delivering tactical and strategic marketing initiatives for the distribution function across the UK, Europe for all of the communications on funds domiciled in the UK, Dublin and Luxembourg. The Marketing team also acts as a hub in providing key product and positioning communication to Legg Mason's internal offices in Asia, Japan, Latin America Australia and Canada.
Position Description:
The Mutual Fund Reporting Associate will be an integral part of the Marketing team, and will work closely with the Mutual Fund Reporting Manager to manage, collate and maintain mutual fund information for a full range of strategies across the US fund ranges. The collated information is requested directly by our client base, distributors and prospects, and internally by the marketing, RFP and sales teams.
Key Responsibilities Duties Include, but not Limited to:
- Support the Mutual Fund Reporting Manager in managing Legg Mason's US mutual fund reporting requirements
- Support the Mutual Fund Reporting Manager in the maintenance and evolution of internal fund databases, which are used to produce Legg Mason's US mutual fund factsheets
- Continually review automation procedures and come up with ideas of how to enhance current processes to eliminate manual intervention
- Use in-depth technical knowledge, e.g. Microsoft Excel, Access, Docubuilder and FactNET to propose solutions to the business that will ultimately speed up the process and save costs
- Deal with all levels of management and liaise with our affiliated Investment Managers, Custodians, Product Management, Legal and Compliance as well as Sales
- Work with shared services operations group to deepen understanding of how internal systems such as GPW can be best used for marketing needs
Ideal Qualifications Experience:
- Bachelors Degree
- 3-5 experience in Mutual Fund industry
- Strong data skills with excellent Microsoft Excel and Access knowledge, including equation and VBA macro-building, most likely gained from employment experience or higher education
- A strong interest in financial products and the asset management business
- Previous mutual fund experience and a sound understanding of the reporting process in an international environment would be advantageous
- Knowledge of the US regulatory environments desirable (UK and European a plus)
- Accuracy and excellent attention to detail, ability to apply an intelligent eye to work received to sense check it
- Strong presentation, communication and organizational skills
- Strong project management skills
- The ability to work independently and on multiple projects
- Excellent time management and adherence to deadlines
- Desire to build a variety of relationships with investment affiliates
- Keen to build knowledge across all asset classes in an international and growing business
- Interest in improving processes and time-to-market while reducing costs
