National Director of Warehouse Operations Job in Dallas 75050, Texas US

POSITION PURPOSE

 

Lead and direct National Warehousing service group in executing mission, goal setting, planning and execution of National Warehousing platform. Implement Manhattan Warehouse Management, Labor Management and Supply Chain Initiatives as key projects driving Operational Excellence. Implement enterprise level “best practice” warehouse operations methodology and develop “key operational metrics” for reporting across operations enterprise. Develop people, policies, procedures, and training to ensure efficient and effective warehouse operations and significant P L contributions across business units.  Manages and appraises the activities of subordinate managers and ensures services are professionally delivered and customers well served. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:  

 

¨      Responsible for the development and implementation of effective National Warehouse and Operations planning, methodology, reporting, ranking and policy development.

¨      Participates with Senior Management in long and short-term Company planning. 

¨      Executes on goals and ensures corporate-wide plans are complemented and supported including labor standards, methods, compensation and incentives, and legal compliance.

¨      Develops and implements National Warehouse and Operations plans, policies, and goals that further strategic objectives.

¨      Responsibility for ensuring effective and efficient support of Regional VP Operations and DC level operations management.

¨      Develops and monitors budgets.  Manages and oversees expenses.

¨      Conducts periodic reviews of existing systems, technologies, products and procedures.  Provides recommendations regarding improvements in service delivery, processes, methods, standards and equipment needs which will further the Company's objectives.  

¨      Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. 

¨      Evaluates operational effectiveness through analyses of Distribution Center activity, on-site inspections, reporting and other measurable criteria. 

¨      Responsible for ensuring the effective administration of all National Warehousing functions. 

¨      Ensures the security and safety of Company property, equipment, and personnel. 

¨      Ensures National Warehouse functions are well coordinated with related departments especially Region operations staff, and provides assistance as required. 

¨      Continually keeps Senior Management informed of operations activities, progress toward established objectives, and of any significant challenges. 

¨      Effectively manages personnel, ensuring optimal performance. 

¨      Provides leadership through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication. Directs, schedules, and coordinates National Warehouse Department functions. 

¨      Ensures Managers are well trained, effective, and optimally used.  Instructs Managers regarding policy, procedure, and program changes. 

¨      Conducts performance appraisals as required.  Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed.  Recommends promotions, transfers, and salary adjustments as appropriate. 

¨      Ensures staffing levels are appropriate and human resources are effectively utilized. 

¨      Assumes responsibility for ensuring professional business relationships are established and maintained with customers, vendors, the business community, and trade organizations. 

¨      Ensures the Company's professional reputation is maintained throughout the organization and the community. 

¨      Stays informed of trends and changes in related fields and continues to engage new trends and technologies.

¨      Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location

 

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:

1.     National Warehousing functions are efficient, effective, and delivered in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and with applicable laws.  Key performance metrics include, warehouse expense as % to sales, cost per case, throughput (CPH), safety and associate turnover.

2.     National Warehousing policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and revised as needed.  National Warehousing policies effectively complement and support Company strategies and goals.

3.     National Warehousing functions are well coordinated among related departments.  Good communication exists and support is provided as needed.

4.     National Warehousing activities are regularly and effectively reviewed.  Quality control procedures are appropriate and productive, and corrective actions and suggestions are implemented as needed. 

5.     National Warehousing personnel are effective, efficient, and optimally utilized.  Good communication exists and support is provided as needed.

6.     Senior Management is appropriately informed of National Warehousing activities and of any significant challenges.  Suggestions for continuous improvement and efficiency or effectiveness are provided.  Required reports and records are accurate and timely.

7.     The Company’s professional reputation and service excellence are maintained.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Certification: 

§  Bachelor Degree or equivalent related field.

 

Required Knowledge:       

§  Knowledge of systems, WM, Voice, Roadnet, PeopleNet, Labor Management and incentive planning, accounting, IT, human resources, purchasing, facilities, fleet, security, and quality control procedures and programs.

§  Understanding of related legal and regulatory requirements.

§  Knowledge of Company products and services.

 

Experience Required:

§  10 plus years of operations leadership experience with continuous advancement and increasing responsibilities preferably in wholesale food distribution or the foodservice industry.

§  Position requires 60% travel to facilities.
