Network Administrator

MUST HAVE A CURRENT TS/SCI LEVEL SECURITY CLEARANCE. Associates degree in a technical or academic, military, or technical training and 5 years of directly related experience. Possess Comp TIA Security+ Certification, or obtain it within six months from date of hire. Trained in information assurance to DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II, and certified to this level within 6 months of assignment to this position. Completion of technical training courses and/or specialized certification programs, such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). The incumbent must have demonstrated skills, knowledge, and technical competence in the maintenance and management of LAN/WAN computer software and hardware and video systems. Possess thorough knowledge of network topology, communication standards, protocols, data transmission technology, and routers/switches. Demonstrated experience in multi-protocol client server environments. Must be self directed and able to establish and meet project guidelines/timelines. Communications skills capable of writing recommendations, reports, purchase justifications, memos, and miscellaneous documentation. Verbal Communication skills to allow for interacting with all unit employees. Possess a current state drivers license.

Job Description:
The UASOCS Network/Communications Administrator III (NA3) performs help desk and
network/system administration functions so as to meet or exceed published Operational Availability (AO) rates.
* Serves as on-duty crew member for configuration, monitoring, maintenance,
troubleshooting, repair and analysis of UASOCS local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) and point-to-point long-haul communications systems.
* Assists with basic configuration, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and analysis of data processing equipment, databases and video systems.
* Continuously identifies and implements organizational, equipment and process improvements.
* Writes problem reports, performs root cause analysis and recommends configuration and process changes.
* Provides status and technical assistance to the warfighters upon demand.
* Maintains knowledge of operations procedures and supporting documentation, and provides input to their development.
* Assists in network and software installations as needed.
* Learns operations of new networks and systems as they are fielded, and recommends procedural updates to accommodate those networks and systems.
* Performs cryptographic management and rekeying.
* Provides on-the-job training.
* Performs operational checks on network equipment, media and systems to verify all equipment and media are serviceable and able to support mission requirements.
* Performs preventive maintenance and coordinates scheduled outages.
* Works with external entities to efficiently activate new services and architectures and to promptly resolve outages and service degradations.
* Maintains latency, video quality, and bandwidth utilization for command and control and video dissemination.
* Uses the IT service management system.
* Ensures Information Assurance requirements are met.
* Regularly performs shift work (24x7x365).
