The Role:

The Network Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and security of the organisations network including, but not limited to, Cisco LAN, WAN and Call manager equipment.
The network is fundamental to IT services and the Network Administrator ensures that it is highly available, secure, and performing optimally in all locations.

Qualifications:

• Practical knowledge and troubleshooting experience of Cisco network hardware is essential.
• Experience up to CCNA level gained within an enterprise environment.
• CCNA, CCNP, CCVP or similar professionally recognised qualification in network technologies (Preferred).

Experience/Competence:

• Experience of working with Cisco hardware at an Enterprise level.
• Hands-on experience of installing Call Manager including servers and gateways.
• Understand network monitoring techniques and have strong troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent documentation skills are essential for the role.
• Must keep IT management informed of any issues or potential downtime.
• Technical lead for the design and implementation of Call Manager including infrastructure and DR considerations (Preferred).
• Technical lead for design and installation of Corporate LAN including routing and IP scheme (Preferred).
• Practical experience supporting remote sites with limited bandwidth (Preferred).
• Experience of coaching colleagues on network methodology (Preferred).

Skills/Knowledge:

• Excellent knowledge of Call Manager including installs, moves and changes, backup and recovery, performance monitoring and troubleshooting techniques.
• Excellent knowledge of L2 L3 Cisco IOS including specification and configuration.
• Good working knowledge of network protocols and routing.
• Experience of managing an IT project from design to implementation (Preferred).
• Good Windows 2003 server management skills (Preferred).
• Experience of passing on skills/knowledge to department colleagues (Preferred).
• Practical experience with integrating companies onto a corporate LAN (Preferred).
