Network Administrator

L-3 Communications, ASIT is seeking a Network Administrator for its Linthicum, Maryland Office.  Under general direction of Director of IT or delegate, provides general IT support for Managed Information Systems, Network Telecommunications, and Engineering Information Systems, and performs duties in the definition, design, development, installation, integration, administration and maintenance of the Linkabit network infrastructure, servers and client systems.

 
Additional responsibilities include: Ensuring compliance to Division and Corporate Policies and Directives. Develop and perform disaster recovery and performance monitoring procedures to ensure continuation of services.  Network trouble-shooting and fault isolation, configuration and integration of multi-vendor Internetworking environment.  Server and Client system deployment, and Level-1 support of desktop systems, including maintenance, configuration and installation of operating systems.  Responsible for policy and procedure maintenance, compliance and artifact retention as required.
 
·Serves as administrator for a multi-segment network infrastructure; designs, develops, installs, integrates and maintains the network physical infrastructure incorporating multiple technologies and protocols; installs, configures and integrates network hardware, software and devices, including servers, routers, switches and cabling and other wiring equipment; diagnoses and resolves network connectivity issues; establishes network standards, including naming conventions and address protocols; monitors, analyzes and manages network traffic and other conditions to achieve optimal performance and uptime; analyzes data to minimize network congestion.
 
·Serves as network security administrator, including administering the rule base; monitors for network intrusions; develops, recommends, implements and enforces the corporate network security policy and remote access standards and guidelines.  
 
·Manages servers, applications and service delivery. 
 
·Provides level-1 desktop support to Windows and Linux users, including installation of encryption and operating systems, establishing e-mail accounts and IP addresses, web browser installation, local workstation network configuration, and software configuration.
 
·Evaluates and recommends software, tools and utilities to aid in automated monitoring and management of network performance; develops and maintains network documentation and reference tools.
 
·Protects and secures electronic company proprietary and company strategic information as directed by division and L-3 Corporate guidelines.

System, server, network and desktop expertise; experienced with Windows servers, network technologies and hands-on skills with Cisco routers, switches, Firewall/VPN, Symantec end-point protection, Citrix, VM environments, SAN and other storage management solutions.  Working knowledge of compliance and patch management.
 
·Minimum 2 years hands-on experience with setting up, monitoring, troubleshooting, repairing and upgrading network infrastructure, servers, and client systems.
 
·Minimum 2 years hands-on experience providing system and desktop support.
 
·Minimum 2 years experience managing network storage, backup/restore, and disaster recovery.
 
·Associates degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
·Must have experience with Windows Server 2003 and 2008r2, Windows XP and Windows 7.   
 
·Certifications a plus.
