Network and Telephony Data Connectivity Engineer

This role will lead the Corona Data Center's planning, design, engineering, configuration, and implementation of network and telephonycabling/wiring. This includes performing network connectivity needs assessment, engineering and design and hardware validation. Work closely with other IT Storage, Platforms, and Network team members, application clients, vendors, and other technical resources to analyze business and technical requirements. Develop options, recommendations and associated cost benefits and implement cost effective solutions. Document standards, proposals and implementation plans for network connectivity design/engineering changes. Develop and manage project teams and resources in area of responsibility. Work with network and cabling engineering firms and installers technical staff, and vendors to develop and implement projects. Research, evaluate, and recommend new tools and technologies. Assess emerging technologies and make recommendations to information technology management. Strict adherence to labeling, inventory control and documentation of cable plant is a key accountability of this role. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline and/or 4 years equivalent work experience. - A minimum of 5 years of experience in Computer Operations. - RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) Certificationis required for this role. - 3 years experience leading the design and deployment of large scale network cabling technology in mission critical large-scale data centers - 2 plus years of experience with copper and fiber cabling design for Data Center plants - 3 to 5 years of installation and termination experience with Cat6 and fiber optic cables - 3 years of experience planning, designing, implementation and support of large environments using a variety of advanced network/telephony writing and cabling techniques - Experience supporting network products, services and tools with an understanding of LAN/WAN topology layouts Preferred Qualifications: - Cisco hardware installation experience where network router cable connections and power requirements were part of your responsibility - Bicsi Certified Technician Level Installer - Experience using Remedy Change Management tools -The person filling this position should have polished written, verbal and interpersonal skills and have demonstrated ability in applying teaming techniques and principles for leading large project team efforts - The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate technical information in understandable business terms, have strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, have good working relationships with outside vendors and the ability to develop relationships with professional organizations, peer groups, and industry trade groups. - Be flexible and available for occasional after-hours or weekend problem resolution and/or project installs and deployments.
