Network Consulting Engineer
Job Description:
We are looking for a Network Consulting Engineer to help customers maximize network availability and functionality to achieve their business goals. The NCE delivers the technologies, solutions and services customers need to expertly manage their networks. In this role, you will be infacing directly with the customer, working in a fast-paced, high-impact environment as a visible contributor delivering on our commitments.
The ideal candidate should be able to:
- creatively solve problems, be comfortable with challenging the status quo and rapidly responding to escalated issues. Be seasoned mix of broad networking knowledge and specific area expertise, as well as excellent Customer Relationship Management (CRM) skills.
- become a trusted advisor capable of building solid, long-term relationships with customers.
- have deep technical expertise with design of datacenter server/applications, network and storage architecture, industry wide understanding of datacenter infrastructure applications (operating systems, databases, replication/disaster recovery, and data protection, expertise with server operating systems, databases, business applications, storage infrastructure, and application integration with respect to infrastructure.
- In addition, experience with developing business case and ROI, IT people/process consulting knowledge and experience, understanding of datacenter physical requirements like power, cooling, cabling etc., operations experience and working knowledge in implementing management and monitoring infrastructure for the datacenter.
- Strong consulting skills are a requirement for this position as customer presentations of services and solutions will needed to be delivered on a daily basis.
- Knowledge and experience on holistic data center virtualization (spanning compute, storage, security and networking services like server load balancing etc) is highly desirable.
Additionally in-depth technical and work related experience in one or more of these key technology areas:
- OSI Layer 2 and 3 switching /routing (OSPF, EIGRP, ISIS, BGP )
- Content Switching (OSI Layer 4-7 Switching, Load balancers)
- Servers and Application understanding
- Caching and Content Delivery
- Security and Firewall technologies
- Campus and Datacenter Technologies
Requirements:
- BS, CS, or University degree equivalent plus 6-8 years experience in network engineering or telecommunications support environment.
- Advanced degree strongly preferred. CCIE strongly preferred.
- Expert level knowledge in TWO of the following and strong knowledge in all other areas of: IP internetworking, IBM internetworking, LAN Switching, ATM Voice technologies, IP Telephony, SAN, CDN, Optical, Wireless, IPCC.
- WAN protocols (Frame Relay, ISDN). IP Routing protocols (IGRP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
- Expert level internetworking troubleshooting in a large-scale network environment. Undertake support as designated Advanced Services engineer for large-scale networks.
- Must possess strong technical account management skills.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience in working with high-level support.-Large-scale network design, virtual technology teams within network management, network availability capacity planning.Country: United States
