The Enterprise and Mission Solutions Business Unit currently has an opening for a Network Design Engineer II. The successful candidate provides leadership and engineering direction to the design of network systems. Develops and implements strategy for generating multiple alternate designs at each development level, and trade-off results which trigger iteration of the design process. Designs and implements highly complex networks that typically link numerous computing platforms, operating systems, and network topologies across widely dispersed geographical areas. Responsible for the implementation of engineering processes that provide for timely and appropriate integration of all engineering disciplines to ensure a network system design that meets all requirements. Identifies problems and risk areas and mitigates their impact. Performs technical design reviews. Provides functional guidance, supervision, technical support, training and quality assurance/quality control to Level I personnel Qualifications: REQUIRED EDUCATION/ SKILLS: Bachelor's degree Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other scientific or technical discipline directly related to the labor category + five (5) years experience of which at least three (3) years must be specialized. OR Bachelor's degree Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other scientific or technical discipline directly related to the labor category + ten (10) years experience of which at least eight (8) years must be specialized. OR AA degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other scientific or technical discipline directly related to the labor category + seven (7) years experience of which at least six (6) years must be specialized. OR Relevant military training or one and one-half (1½) years of relevant military experience + an additional seven (7) years experience of which at least six (6) years must be specialized. OR Training certificate(s) from an accredited training program + seven (7) years experience of which at least six (6) years must be specialized. Approved training programs include, but are not limited to, Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, DEC, Marconi, Nortel, and SUN Microsystems certificate programs. OR Ten (10) years experience of which at least nine (9) years must be specialized Specialized experience may include one or more of the following areas: Evaluation of ADP software, equipment, telecommunications, integration and modeling of large computer based systems. Configuring and implementing data communications processors, routers, Switches, multiplexers, DSU/CSU modems, line (DS, T1, T3, and ISDN) and related equipment. Design of Standard network suites, hardware configurations, and standard cable schemes to include cable engineering. DESIRED EXPERIENCE. The successful candidate shall support multiple IP Services networks to include IP Teleport, Secure Mobile Environmental-Secure Mobile Device (SME-PED), and Voice over Secure IP (VoSIP). The NDE II shall possess an advanced understanding of the systems or enclave functions, as it relates to their scope of responsibility. The IP Services specialist should be comfortable with a dynamic IP work environment and changing responsibilities/scope. The IP Services specialist position requires the individual possess advanced experience in IP and Information Systems to include configuring dynamic routing protocols, configuring firewalls, switches and routers, Voice over IP fundamentals, and familiarity with Cisco/NET voice solutions and equipment. An active Secret security clearance is required for this position. Non-technical desired skills will include: documentation (Standard Operating Procedures), DISA and DoD STIGs; Any professional certifications (ie. CCNA, CCNP) is strongly desired.
