Network Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

A Senior Cisco Network Engineer is required to join this large organisations in house team to assist in the delivery of the Service Improvement Program specifically working on their data centre and unified communications project, which is currently upgrading their data centre network infrastructure as well as adding new features. The product knowledge is centred on the Cisco Portfolio in particular the Cisco 6500 and 4900 range of LAN switches.

The ideal candidate will have experience of configuring, implementing and troubleshooting Cisco network equipment and working in customer premises changing physical equipment and sound experience of TCP/IP and the Cisco portfolio.
The role requires investigating faults generated as a result of LAN changes at given sites and escalating them where appropriate, updating call management system with progress for enhancements and faults and providing advice and guidance to the Change Control manager on the impact of proposed changes.

The suitable candidate will have a solid Cisco Networking background with a proven Knowledge of TCP/IP and IP Address schema management. They will have sound knowledge of communications services, systems and practices and a thorough understanding of Cisco catalyst switching equipment (1900 series to 6500 switches, Cisco routers and routing protocols, Wireless technology and Security appliances as well as Solarwinds and CiscoWorks skills.

Qualified to CCNA minimum with CCNP being advantageous, the ideal candidate will also have experience of working in an operational team, working with call management systems and be familiar with frameworks such as ITILv3. Exposure and understanding of project management methodologies such as Prince2 and MSP is highly desirable. They must have excellent inter-personal and communication skills. Additionally, they must be willing to travel to various client sites in the Kent region.
