The role: Network Engineer, Corporate Deployment
As a Network Engineer, you will be on the front line of our effort to build and maintain one of the largest and most complex enterprise networks in the world. The Google corporate network operates at massive scale while providing reliable service to our users throughout the world. The scale and complexity of Google's corporate network generates a constant stream of interesting challenges which are solved by using an evolving set of technologies that require innovation in every aspect of networking. Your job will be to ensure the continued enhancement of features in the Google enterprise corporate network. You will be faced with both scaling the network and providing additional features necessary for the variety of Google applications and services our customers demand.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other engineers and project managers to build and maintain the global corporate network.
- Ensure deployment and operational integrity of the global corporate network infrastructure by following established best practices.
- Collaborate with other team members and groups to identify and develop scalable network designs, solutions and policy recommendations.
- Support Google's internal application and services groups by identifying and presenting their network-impacting requirements to the rest of the network engineering team.
- Participate in the rotating "on call" schedule with other members of the team providing second-tier support, solving complex networking issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA or BS in EE/CS/CE (In lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience).
- 2 years of hands-on experience deploying and operating a large enterprise network, including experience with enterprise class routers and switches (experience with Cisco and/or Juniper).
- Knowledge of TCP, IPv4/6, IPsec, GRE, VRRP, HSRP and SNMP protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4 years relevant work experience.
- Proven, demonstrable skills in network design, implementation and integration in operationally sensitive production environments.
- Skill in network routing protocol troubleshooting in BGP, OSPF and MPLS.
- Network certifications such as CCNP/CCIE/JNCIS/JNCIE (or equivalent training/experience).
- Up to 20% travel.
