Network Engineer
Well established company in Towson, MD is looking for a Network Engineer. The Network Engineer’s responsibilities include monitoring and support of existing systems, use and improvement of automation tools and processes, SOX compliance, ITIL processes, evaluation of new solutions, implementation of new projects/applications/processes and other responsibilities as required.
Main Job Duties:
- Designs, implements, maintains, monitors, documents, and supports various network subsystems within the firm. Some of which include the Ethernet backbone, Routers, Firewalls, IPS, phone systems, Telecomm provisioning, etc.
- Directly responds to and resolves network related issues. Acts as Helpdesk personnel, talking and dealing with referrals from others. Sometimes assists in issues outside the Networking realm in support of the Helpdesk.
- Proactively identifies and corrects problems.
- Assists in product evaluations and makes recommendations for hardware and software purchases.
- Makes repairs and upgrades to Networking subsystems or makes recommendations to use outside services.
- Takes ownership and manages Helpdesk tickets and Projects assigned and completes them in a timely manner to provide excellent internal customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Network Certification CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional)
- Minimum of 3 years of hands on experience in the planning, installing, configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routers and Ethernet switches in a LAN and WAN environment.
- 3Com Ethernet equipment and Firewall experience are a plus but not required.
- Associates degree or equivalent experience in networking field.
- Assists in product evaluations and makes recommendations for hardware and software purchases.
- Skill in troubleshooting problems with hardware and software used in the Networking realm i.e. Protocol analyzers, Cisco IOS, Network related Windows based commands, telecomm lines, etc.
- Ability to communicate with systems users, including ensuring that the user understands what the incumbent has communicated; organize work in order to meet deadlines and user demands; understand and follow directions and resolve Network problems as required.
