Network Engineer Job in Houston 77030, Texas US

This position will be responsible for the architecture, design, implementation and maintenance of local and wide-area transport networking, network design/engineering and problem solving. The position requires a professional who is a self-starter and has the ability to multi-task and work under pressure. The Network Engineer will report directly to the Network Team Lead.

The ideal candidate will posses a thorough understanding of TCP/IP, routing, access control lists, security, firewalls and network traffic analysis. In addition, must be Internet savvy with regards to security, DNS, and Virtual Private Networks.

Required: Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) or Computer Science or equivalent technical work experience.

Required: Minimum of three to four years of network engineering experience.

Proficiency required in Cisco, Foundry/Brocade, OSPF, IOS, JUNOS, QoS, RSTP, HSRP, Stacking, and MCT. Maintain and replace hardware as needed, including OS upgrades on Cisco and Brocade.

Ability to administer Cisco ASA 5585 which includes reporting and working with auditing. Working with customers to identify security needs and assist troubleshooting application requirements at a server level and desktop level.

Technology requirements include excellent proficiencies with WAN/LAN architectures including transport, routing, QoS, Ethernet; design proficiency with IPv4 and IPv6 (unicast and multicast) network protocols and addressing; systems-based network support services to include DNS, VPN, DHCP, etc.

Additional assignments may include the evaluation, testing and implementation of network technologies that enhance performance, security, functionality, monitoring and manageability of the corporate network and its resources. In addition, support (maintenance and/or troubleshooting) of these technologies will be required.

Proficient with Microsoft Visio to maintain and create network drawings. Familiar with working with SNMP and Solarwinds monitoring tools. Includes all aspects of support, MSoft Server support, Software Support and Configuration, Device Configuration, and Reporting.
