Network Engineer Job in Menlo Park, California US

Job Summary

Serve as a member of a Tier 2 network support team that triages, resolves and escalates issues for the internal global network of this very well-known company. You’ll need to have enough of a broad experience background to be able to resolve support WANs, LANs, WLANs, Internet Gateways, Firewalls Remote Access infrastructures. The ideal candidate will be a strong troubleshooter, will be highly customer service driven and is naturally curious about evolving technologies.

Required skills:


5 years of IT experience, with at least 2-3 years in a network engineer type role configuring and managing networking devices.

Knowledge of OSI Layers, Switches, Routers, Firewalls and TCP/IP

Strong understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF. Thorough knowledge with routing and switching in an Enterprise class environment.

Moderate understanding of WAN provider offerings including MPLS, VPN, Frame-Relay, Metro Ethernet and point-to-point technologies

Product knowledge of Cisco routers and switches, enterprise class firewalls such as Cisco or Juniper.

Thorough understanding of infrastructure level networking services (DHCP, DNS, etc)

Customer service driven attitude

Must be willing to participate in on-call rotation

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required

Desired skills/experience

CCNP preferred or equivalent

Experience with Juniper SRX

Cisco Call Manager, Unity

Voice over IP design and implementation

Cisco Wireless – WCS, LWAPP

Cisco ACS

NETMRI, or other SNMP based monitoring tools

Strong organization and documentation skills
