As Lead Network Engineer you will have a detailed understanding of the Customers internetworking environment, and act as the technical advisor for current and future technology deployments. Network Design Optimization and Capacity Planning -Review performance of the customer network, plan and manage scalability, logical addressing, redundancy and logical and physical capacity for the customer data network. -Review performance reports and make design/configuration recommendations. -Provide engineering support for proof of concept prototyping and testing. Strategic Planning and Design -Perform functions as the customer's supplemental network architect during the contract. -Provide technology assessments including benefit evaluation of new vendor releases to ensure current network compatibility. -Plan and recommend end-of-life remediation for network equipment. -Discuss and review network requirements to ensure proper alignment with the customer's business requirements. -Review network design topology architecture. -Evaluate/recommend technology upgrades. -Conduct and annual technology assessment and overview presentation with customer. 4th Level Support to Managed Network Solutions Operations -Work with Managed Network Solutions Operations Center engineering on issues related to operating system vulnerability checks, including operating system upgrades to eliminate known vulnerabilities. -Provide engineering/technical support for problem resolution of design-related issues identified by Managed Network Solutions Operations engineers and/or CPE vendor's technical support. Maintenance of Customer Network Design Documentation -The Network Design Documentation feature allows the Network Engineer to update the network as-built documentation and Customer Design Document (CDD) consistent with major changes to the network. Change Management Planning and Execution (Optional Change Management) -The Network Engineer will work with the customer to define requirements, design, document, and work with Operations to implement changes. Network Engineer will support engineering/design changes required to correct a customer network fault or problem. -Must possess a broad and thorough technical understanding and designing, configuring, implementing testing, troubleshooting and supporting multi-site critical network environments that consist of Routers, Switches (Catalyst Nexus), Wireless LAN, WAN Accelerator, VoIP, Firewall Network Security. -Hands on working experience with various routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, EIGRP IGRP, RIPv1 RIPv2. -Hands on working experience with QoS configurations and designs. -Have very strong customer interfacing background, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and good organizational skills. A quick thinker with the ability to work on multiple projects/activities concurrently, and research technical issues and develop solutions. -Possess problem solving skills including conceptual and analytical thinking and capable of working on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. -Candidates should possess current vendor certification in CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, CCDP or CCIE (RS). -Associate's Degree or higher (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science) and minimum 7 years of experience in a hands-on Network Engineering role. CCNA, CCNP or CCIE (RS) certification is preferred. Hands-on experience with Cisco Voice and Wireless LAN is preferred. Juniper certified (JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP/JNCIE) highly desirable but not essential.
