Network Engineering Manager Job in Loudwater, London UK

Daisy Communications is currently recruiting for a Network Engineering Manager with strong experience in system administration, Cisco routing and switching, Unix and scripting skills.

 

The Role

 

As Network Engineering Manager, your role will be to:

 

Be responsible for detailed design, documentation and service development deployment on the IP/MPLS core and access networks and large customer solutions.

Be responsible for any network technical signoff, defining company best practice, and design authority.

Ensure uptime and availability.

Provide escalation and interface to other departments (e.g., NOC, DCO, Systems, Network Specialists, Product, Presales, and Sales).

Strategic planning, and to be seen as senior level consultant for the company.

 

The Network Engineering Manager role requires participation in the on-call rota (typically 1 week in 4).

 

The Essentials

 

Candidates for the Network Engineering Manager position should possess:

 

·         Extensive hands on network experience equivalent of greater than CCIE level.

·         System administration background with strong Unix and scripting skills (Perl/python/sql).

·         Strong Cisco routing switching experience, in an NSP environment.

·         MPLS TE based traffic engineering

·         Expert knowledge with ASR/GSR/7600/6500 platforms

·         Experience with vendors other than Cisco

·         Adaptable, used to working to tight time scales, motivated to manage own time, works well on own and with a team.

·         Attention to detail.

·         Good documentation skills

·         First class communication skills

·         Strong project management skills, ability to multitask on complex and large projects.

·         Able to work closely with peers and other business units

·         Ownership accountability

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

 

·         Backbone and access edge maintenance, design, upgrades and BAU.

·         Provide design guide, documentation and best practice guides to other departments.

·         Technical and administrative responsibility for all internal and external routing policies, including managing ibgp/ebgp/confederations and ipv4/vpnv4/ipv6 bgp, multicast, etc. sessions.

·         Own and manage escalations from other departments (ticket/phone/email).

·         Liaison with other service Providers and suppliers regarding issues with National and International circuit provisioning, faults and diagnostics.

·         Responding to and mitigating DDOS attacks targeted against our customers and/or our own infrastructure

·         Provision of technical consultancy services in support of the Product department and Sales-Engineering teams

·         Provision of Proactive Monitoring in relation to core network performance, and capacity planning

·         Provision of Technical support in relation to Service Development Projects

·         Initiation and ownership of internal projects in relation to core network performance and functionality

·         Working with vendor TAC where appropriate

·         Development maintain network support tools.

·         Ability to development maintain new and existing scripts to support network automation.
