Alexander Black Recruitment is urgently looking for a technical Network Protocol Engineer to join our high profile client.
Our client is the world’s leading creator of low latency high frequency market execution technology. Most days their software is used by millions of traders across the globe from investment bank to hedge fund.
Must have familiarity with TAPs, Endace, Net Optics (or similar), and protocol analyzers – e.g. WireShark, General Sniffer. Regular functions of the job will include interfacing with both technical and business side of a customer which will require excellent inter-personal skills. This person must also have a good understanding of how operating systems interact with software programs and how the network stack will interface to both.
You will:
• Troubleshoot back-end application issues, including but not limited to, all individual exchange / FIX Gateways, WAN Routing and remote connections, network related problems and exchange connectivity issues.
• Document and provide feedback in regards to information and data helpful to other team members and clients.
• Escalate technical issues as appropriate.
• Provide analysis and recommendations for product enhancement.
• Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and expanding high performance networks.
• Understand exchange architectures (FIX, MISS, LIFFE Connect, etc).
• Maintain, design and troubleshoot exchange connections. (Exchange connectivity includes connections to Eurex/EurexUS,LIffe/Euronext, CME, eCBOT, MX, LIFFE, CFE, NYMEX,
• Support upgrades to multiple Test and Production Environments.
• Responsible for overall health of multiple internal environments.
Candidates must have:
- 6 years commercial experience
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting trading software at desktop and server level.
- Strong Windows XP professional, Windows 7, 2003 server and 2008 server experience to registry level.
- Scripting
- Some exposure to OO development in any language (Java, C++ Python Powershell, C#)
- Visual Studio
- In-depth knowledge of Protocols, TCP, UDP, PGM, etc
- Experience with network latency analysis or understanding
- Solid grasp of networking concepts
- Cisco experience is preferred; exposure to additional vendor equipment is also beneficial.
- Linux
This role suits someone from a network consulting or implementation background who is looking to take on serious responsibility. You will also have to sign an NDA due to the close proximity you have to funds very important IP.
