Network Security Administrator Job in Washington, District Of Columbia US

This position  provides general Tier II monitoring, configuration, and support in a large global enterprise firewall environment supporting over 80,000 users on a 24/7 basis.  Current opening is for the midnight shift Tuesday - Saturday.

Responsibilities include:

 

·         Recognize high priority tickets and users, and take action within the agreed upon service level targets.

 

·         Provide input to the Operation SOPs, reference documents, and operational technical guides.

 

·         Monitor and check status for Stonegate and Sidewinder Firewalls and clusters to include active connections, logging activity, disk space, suspicious log activity, and cluster load balance on an hourly basis.

 

·         Implement IP blocks requested by the CIRT team and make the appropriate changes on all applicable firewalls.

 

·         Provide tier-2 support and troubleshooting of content filtering systems to include any database modification requests and reports of objectionable content availability.

 

·         Monitor and status reports for all firewall logs to include verification of continuous logging of all firewalls to appropriate servers on an hourly basis.

 

·         Verify all log servers maintain sufficient amount of disk space and logs are successfully transferred to long-term storage.

 

·         Perform all Health checks as outlined in FW SOP

 

·         Become familiar with and use SharePoint for all operational references in support of operations

 

 Required qualifications:

Technical Expertise

 

·         3+ years providing hands-on technical engineering operations support in a government and/or large commercial environment.

 

·         Possess demonstrated experience, either through direct hands-on experience or training, with multiple firewall technologies, both monitoring and configuration, and basic TCP/IP network diagnosis and troubleshooting.

 

·         Possess significant knowledge of secure environment computing technologies including firewall, IDS, Linux, MS Windows, and web proxies.

 

·         Previous experience with a ticketing system such as Remedy or UTT. 

 

Formal Education Certification

 

·         BS degree in the field of computer science, business administration, or another rigorous discipline OR 2 years of related experience as a junior engineer, with some business acumen.

 

·         Supporting the monitoring and configuration of Firewall/DMZ infrastructure including Network and Application Firewall Packet Filtering and Web Proxy technologies (Stonegate, Sidewinder, Juniper, CheckPoint, Cisco PIX/ASA, Bluecoat, Websense)

 

·         Basic Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008 implementation and troubleshooting from a security/firewall perspective

 

·         Basic TCP/IP network implementation and troubleshooting

 

·         NetIQ or other similar monitoring tools

 

·         Formal industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and/or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP – various), CISSP, CCNA, CISSP, Network+, Security+, etc. are a STRONG plus.

 

Candidate must be a US Citizen and either possess or be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance.
