Network Security Specialist Job in Overland Park, Kansas US
We looking for a candidate to perform technical troubleshooting for firewall requests submitted from the business. This position will interface directly with internal teams as well as our customer’s technical security teams. They will review suggested firewall changes, review the existing architecture and determine the actual changes that will need to be made to the environment to facilitate application communication on a complex operational support system (OSS) network. Responsibility: The Network Security candidate will be responsible for: • Performing detailed assessments of firewall changes submitted by application owners, system administrators, developers and other technical areas of the business. The candidate will review the existing firewall architecture and routers to determine the actual changes needed prior to submitting the request to our customer for implementation. • Collaborating with operational staff to determine the correct security requirements. • Understanding complex network architecture and industry security standards and best practices • Interpreting and communicating customer security policies and standards • Creating and updating documentation and job aids for new processes • Building an efficient process for handling large amounts of firewall changes • The ability to support off-hours work when required Interfaces: Internal: • All internal Managed Services External: • All Managed Services Customers and Vendors Qualifications: Skills, Experience and Education: • Solid understanding of Juniper firewalls and Cisco routers • Proven track record of meeting objectives • Firm understanding of TCP and UDP ports and protocols • Technical understanding of large, complex OSS and TCP/IP networks • Ability to learn information and network security fundamentals • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and changes • Solid understanding of network troubleshooting including packet sniffing • Industry certifications a plus (CISSP, CCNA, Juniper certifications)
