Neuroscientist Sr Stf

Specific Job Description The field of cognitive neuroscience has flourished due to advances using multiple methodologies such as anatomy, physiology, imaging, and behavior. Given the progress that has been made in each of these areas, the time is ripe for strong theoretical frameworks that can relate different levels of analysis, moving beyond basic brain/behavior correlations. The emerging field of Computational Cognitive Neuroscience (CCN) is ideally suited to help fill this need through the use of mathematical analysis and explicit computational models that bridge the gap between biological mechanisms and cognitive function. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and leading advanced research projects, both internally and externally funded. This includes understanding the ISGS Advanced IRD process, developing concepts, socializing the ideas with business leadership and developing quality IRD proposals. The candidate will also work with CRAD Program Manager and BD to sell program ideas to CRAD customers. This includes meeting with CRAD customers, understanding their challenges and developing quality technical solutions and proposals. Specific Responsibilities: - Provide subject matter expertise support to IARPA and DARPA contracts. - Build computational models of high level cognitive functions and brain regions by composing neuron models. - Choose neuron models with appropriate levels of biological fidelity for specific applications. - Lead development of complete architectures and system engineering of neural computational models of the human brain. Neural modeling and system integration plans should show a progression from simple, lower fidelity, models to more complex models that show faithful biological behaviors. - Provide subject matter expertise to the business cognitive computing strategy. - Provide adhoc support to business area proposals and programs as subject matter expert on an as needed basis - Develop new concepts and work through the ISGS Advanced IRD process to gain internal funding - Present and propose new ideas to CRAD customers to gain external funding - Develop and build relationships with universities, small business and other LM components as needed to support research initiatives.
