Newly Qualified ACA/CIMA candidates interested in a move to Banking recruitment

The main function of the Product Control team is to provide control, daily PL and other analyses to the Global Commodities business. The global business includes flow trading, index and structured commodities trading desks.

The successful candidate will have daily PL and balance sheet responsibilities ,more specifically, the candidate will be expected to:

• Take ownership of all facets of the PL and balance sheet issues surrounding the trading book. This will include written commentary on PL and balance sheet movements.

• Integration of the different parts of the Commodities business will see migration from a number of risk-management systems such that the candidate will be involved in process change and control.

• Control and review of trading data in-flow to the PL production tool and discussion of this data with the trading desk.

• Daily PL reporting to traders and senior management - production, analysis, explanation and reporting of the daily trading PL.

• Reconciliation of reported PL to underlying ledgers.

• Balance sheet review and reserve analysis.

• Liaison with trading desk, Valuations, front-office support, Operations and Global Reporting, to discuss and resolve ad hoc issues concerning bookings, valuations, new business, strategy and other areas.

• Work closely with traders to understand their trading strategies and risks.

• Contribute to initiative to transform the operating model within product control to become a more proficient business decision support team, working closely with the business to understand balance sheet, capital, RWA and plethora of capital or liquidity charges.

This is a challenging role with exposure to varied commodities products and a Global business.

We are keen to hear from Newly Qualified candidates with a strong mathmatical background, proven financial / analytical problem solving skills. We will also consider candidates coming from a Product Control background previously.

• Quantitative skills and technical acumen.

• The individual must be practically minded and have a logical, systematic approach to delivering work. The ability to work flexibly to meet deadlines in a challenging environment is a pre-requisite.

• Able to identify risks and issues using logical analysis and conceptual thinking to resolve problems.

• Able to work with minimum supervision exercising self discipline and be aware when issues need to be escalated.

Excellent communication skills

• Understanding of front-to-back Product Control processes.
