The role will be in the Rates Europe Product Control Group in London.
The main elements of the role are:-
- Produce and analyse the daily pnl for designated trader(s) on a T+1 basis. Products covered include Bond Trading (governments, sovereign/supranational agencies), Interest Rates Swaps and Options, Cross Currency Basis Swaps and FX Trading, Inflation Derivatives, Funding Management.
- Reconciliation of the PL produced above to the PL posted to the back office ledger.
- Writing commentaries on large PL and reserve swings, explaining in terms of desks' risk positions and economic factors.
- Reviewing the balance sheet daily, and ensuring funding attributed in the daily PL is explainable.
- Price/parameter verifcation.
- Taking internals exams and structured lecture room classes to bolster product knowledge.
- General on going awareness of external accounting standards and potential impact on business and traders.
- Interaction with with traders, Operations staff, Market Risk, Credit Risk, IT, and also other Finance staff eg Regulatoty and Global MIS reporting.
- Gradual understanding of the front to back valuation and settlement process affecting the Rates business stream.
- Ad Hoc projects - the Rates business are replacing their core valuation system during 2010 and also introducing significant changes to the discounting curve framework used in the derivatives portfolio.
Requirements

2) People - he/she should also demonstrate an ability/aptitude to foster a team to achieve the strategic objectives of his role, and those of the organisation.
3) Economic - the candidate must demonstrate an appreciation of risk and risk management.
4)Functional/Technical - aptitude for developing a solid understanding of the Rates business, good mathematical skills, advanced database and spreadsheet skills, analytical, process change ability.
Required Background:
- 'A' Levels including maths.
-Degree qualified in Maths/Physics/ Engineering or Computer Sciences.
-ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified.
