Newton – Client Servicing Systems Analyst Programmer recruitment

 To analyse, design, develop, test, integrate, implement and maintain application software and off-the-shelf packages. The primary focus will be on ensuring the timely delivery of application software and services related to the Client Servicing systems deployed at Newton. In addition, develop a solid understanding of all business aspects of these systems, whilst building and maintaining close working relationships with business customers and stakeholders as well as with colleagues across the Newton and BNY Mellon technology areas.

Key Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

• Previous commercial experience in an IT development role required.

• Experience in the banking/financial sector would be useful but is not essential. Knowledge of the investment management industry would be an additional asset.

• Active participation in the systems life cycle – analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and support. Exposure to Rapid Application Development (RAD) would be useful.

• Experience of Oracle, including PL/SQL development. Database performance tuning knowledge would be beneficial

• Web application development experience (ASP.NET/HTML/ASP/VBScript/Javascript.) Exposure to a web development tool such as Visual Interdev would be useful.

• Good understanding of (C#) .NET environment and associated languages

• Experience of the Windows environment (XP/Windows 2000/2003), including COM/COM+. Previous exposure to UNIX (ideally Solaris) would also be useful.

• Experience of a source/release management system such as Visual SourceSafe or Harvest required.

• A proven track record in finishing jobs and taking responsibility for assignments

• A demonstrable ability to learn new skills quickly and to adapt to new technologies

• An ability to produce concise and relevant documentation as required

Desirable Knowledge and Experience

It is preferable for candidates to possess the following skills and experience, but training will be provided as and if required:-

• Investment Management, general Finance processes and client reporting.

• Oracle SQL (with PL/SQL)

• .NET (C#)

• Web development – ASP.NET/ HTML/VBScript/Javascript/ASP, Windows (XP/Windows 2000)

• Unix (Solaris/AIX) – not essential.

• Visual Basic (VB6) – not essential.

• Data warehousing/data transformation

• Distributed systems architecture

• Source/release management (eg Visual SourceSafe/Harvest)

• Eagle PACE – not essential.
