Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Design, create, modify, and maintain templates within the NextGen EHR system
- Troubleshoot issues within NextGen EHR templates as needed
- Design develop applications that can integrate within the NextGen EHR/EPM environment
- Write SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, etc. to interact with NextGen templates as required
- Collaborate with business SMEs and technology departments to define deliverables and develop solutions that are reusable across the enterprise
- Support projects by conducting requirements gathering, leading/participating in JAD sessions with Business Analysts and business SMEs, and conduct technical reviews as required
- Produce written deliverables as required to support development of Requirement Specifications and Support Documentation - to include architecture diagrams, technical design documentation, and other necessary artifacts required to support system testing and implementation activities
- Production implementation support for NextGen users
- Analyze current and potential templates for conversions and product integration scenarios
- Support future EHR product and/or template upgrades and software releases
- Ensure SOX, HIPAA, and ITIL compliance
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist in the management of third-party resources conducting NextGen template development
- Mentor, train, and support future NextGen template developers within technology department
- Support Systems/Business Analysts who may also be performing NextGen template development
Qualifications:
Required Skills Abilities:
- 5+ years development experience with Microsoft languages (e.g. asp.net, vb.net, C#)
- 5+ years experience developing stored procedures, web services, ad hoc SQL queries, views, and triggers in a SQL Server environment
- NextGen EHR template development experience
- Understanding of SQL Server architecture and internals
- Understanding of physical and logical database layouts
- Understanding of the .NET framework and experience in C# is strongly desired
- Experience in leading full life cycle implementations with an understanding of all aspects of an implementation project including, but not limited to, planning, analysis and design, configuration, development, conversions, system testing, cutover and production support.
- A broad knowledge of design, function, and characteristics of the N-Tier desktop architecture, database design, and development. This includes knowledge of sophisticated computer hardware, systems software, extensive application software, and debugging techniques needed to develop and maintain software applications
- Must be able to function independently, or as a team member, and have exemplary communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders and able to correlate business issues to technical solutions
- Must organize/prioritize work, manage multiple tasks and projects and function effectively as a small-team member.
- Ability to complete quality projects on time and on budget
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge of server, database and query tuning and optimization is a plus
- Experience with data modeling, including multi-dimensional modeling, ETL, and metadata development.
- Familiarity with ITIL is desired
- Healthcare systems (Revenue Cycle Management, Practice Management, Outcomes Assessment, Clinical)
- Strong PC skills with a working knowledge Microsoft Office suite, with strong skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
Required Credentials:
- B.S. or B.A. in computer science, information systems, or a related degree preferred. Relevant experience with non-analytical degree or equivalent professional training may be substituted.
