NHS Education Manager – Driving Instructor

Hays Healthcare currently has positions available for experienced and qualified Driving Instructors to join the local NHS Ambulance Service in Newbury (Berkshire). This role involves providing support and facilitating high quality emergency and non-emergency driving education and training to members of the Ambulance Trust and to commercial students, both within the education centres and in an operational setting. As a driving instructor, you will report to the Driving and Commercial Senior Education Manager on a daily basis and work accordingly following procedures. We also welcome qualified paramedics who may have had experience as driving instructors for emergency driving.

Other aspects of the role will require you to:

· Provide leadership and mentorship in an operational setting to Operational Area Managers, Operational Team Leaders, and Clinical Mentors in relation to Driving Education
· Provide best practice advice in relation to driving in a operational setting for mentors and staff in relation to driving practice and governance
· To be responsible for an individual portfolio of education (non driving), and to provide subject matter expertise as allocated by the Driving and Commercial Senior Education Manager

This is a permanent Band 7 position. To be considered for this role you must:

· Be a qualified IHCD driving instructor or equivalent
· Have formal teaching or training qualification appropriate to the profession – e.g. Cert Ed (or working towards)
· Be a Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor
· Have significant post qualification experience in an emergency driving setting
· Have experience in a wide range of emergency and non-emergency driving vehicles and situations
· Have the ability to maintain clear focus under pressure – especially in an emergency driving setting
· Have Experience of using a variety of IT software including Microsoft Office, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and windows XP
