Sheppey Prisons in Kent, 3- 6month Temporary contract.
Permenant NIGHTS £10.93 per hour inclusive of holiday.
7 Nights straight Monday - Sunday, 11 hour Shifts, 20.45pm - 7.45am.
Timesheets will pay 33 hours one week, 44 hours the next.

Overview of the position:
As the sole agency supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of maintenance trades support operatives, Hays is seeking to recruit Operational Support Grades (OSGs) for Swaleside Prison in Sheppey Kent. Immediate start if you are already Prison Cleared.

This is a Long-term Temporary Contract with a night rate of £9.75 plus £1.18 holiday pay = £10.93 per hour. 7 Nights straight Monday - Sunday, 11 hour Shifts, 20.45pm - 7.45am. Timesheets will pay 33 hours one week, 44 hours the next.

The OSG role is in a unique working environment with a strong sense of team working. Always in demand, you could benefit from long-term contracts and there is also potential, once trained, to work in other prisons both locally and nationally. You must be local to the prison or have your own transport. Basic Uniform will need to be provided by the temporary worker in most establishments, the Prison/ Contractors will supply high visibility clothing and protective headwear, along with any other specialist safety equipment if required.

Purpose of the OSG role:
As part of the security team you will be responsible for assisting in the safety and security of the establishment where your duties will include escorting visitors, building contractors, gate duties within the prison and outside areas. You will ensure the safety and security of the visitors, staff and prisoners within a Prison establishment, while persons from outside of NOMS are on site. You will also ensure that no unauthorised persons or items enter the establishment. Kent Prisons have an excellent reputation as busy local prisons, which serve all the courts in the South East. Checking Searching Visitors
Radio handling
Supervision of visitors
Stores duties
Patrolling perimeter and grounds
Routine administrative work
Escorting contractors vehicles
Night patrol duties
Contractor Tool checks
Switchboard duties
Searching Buildings
Canteen and kit exchange duties
Searching prisoners property
Rub down searching of prisoners
Health Safety Proceedures
Radio operation
Supervising small selected prisoner work parties
Emergency Control Room (ECR) and Communications Room

Experience:
No formal qualifications or previous experience is required for this role.
The nature of the OSG role requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks, you will also need to be reliable and consistent, level headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Successful applicants will have a background in customer services or security, and will be assessed based on the following competencies: Acting with integrity, respecting others, Building relationships and team working, communicating effectively, developing self and others.

Full training is provided by the establishment/ department. Training time will be paid at the standard hourly rate.

Security Clearance required:
Immediate start if you are already Prison Cleared.
All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure which can take up to 4 weeks, this can include a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. You must hold a Valid Passport or Birth Certificate Photo Driving Licence in your current address. All applicants must be able to provide details of 2 satisfactory references, at least one from an ex-employer.
