Current Secret - US Citizenship Required about security clearance definitions Position Description National Team Architecture and Systems Engineering (ASE) Senior Systems Engineer. The National Team, created by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in 2002, brings together engineers and scientists from across industry and the government. The team includes Boeing as well as other major aerospace companies and specialized teammates to bring expertise in key niche areas. The National Team's Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) system integrates the architecture for missile defense, enabling the warfighter to plan, coordinate and execute an effective defense against missile attack. As a member of the Missile Defense National Team B (MDNTB) the successful candidate will be responsible to guide a disciplined systems engineering approach to the definition, development, and analysis of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Overhead Persistent Infra-red (OPIR) Architecture (BOA) and Space Based Infra-Red Sensor (SBIRS) Increment 2 capability and provide systems engineering guidance and support to program design reviews. Typical duties include: a) Decompose the current and future planned C2BMC and Global Engagement Manager (GEM) systems to understand what impact the BOA and SBIRS Increment 2 capability will have on the current system and how to mitigate any negative impacts. b) Evaluate and provide recommendations on achieving future capabilities such as sensor management, tasking, cueing, and discrimination architectures. c) Participate in developing, executing, and analyzing the results of various tests of the software in a lab environment as needed. d) Identify and define and support fielding of new capabilities. Other responsibilities may include: Development of engineering plans and oversight of execution. Documentation and presentation of assessment and analysis results. Definition and documentation of new engineering processes or improvement to existing engineering processes. Occasional travel is required. *** THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT ON CANDIDATE SCREENING AND ACCEPTANCE BY INDUSTRY PARTNER RESOURCE CONTROL BOARD. *** REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 8 years of systems engineering experience on ballistic missile defense programs including systems design, development and integration. Systems engineering lead experience on a large scale systems-of-systems program. Minimum of 5 years of systems-of-systems definition and integration. Engineering experience implementing and executing industry standard systems engineering processes and procedures. Experience developing system engineering artifacts such as specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, and Trade Studies. Demonstrated ability to analyze high level needs and through a structured and logical approach refine the need into an integrated set of requirements that leads to a fielded product. Demonstrated lead engineer skills, including directing, coaching and mentoring of less experienced engineers. Demonstrated ability to work directly with multiple customer organizations and contractor organizations. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical plans, status, and results effectively and clearly in written and oral means to a variety of audiences. Experience writing and implementing engineering plans within a project. Engineering experience in an integrated team environment with other systems, software and specialty engineers to develop solutions.
