Assume ultimate 24-hour responsibility for the care of patients on a nursing unit. Supervise, evaluate, hire, develop, guide and counsel nursing staff in their work performance within the assigned department. Direct the nursing care provided to patients on a nursing unit. Utilize available staff to provide optimal delivery of nursing service. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of nursing theory and practice involved in providing nursing care; familiarity with organization and function of departments, policies, procedures and regulations; knowledge of principles of leadership and organizational and financial management.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree (Bachelors of Science in Nursing/BSN preferred). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania, or immediate eligibility.
- A minimum of 18 months clinical experience. Previous managerial experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill in interpersonal relations, group dynamics, problem solving, interviewing, observation, counseling and teaching.
- Ability to evaluate and supervise other nursing personnel; to use mature judgment in determining priorities of care and modification of assignments; to incorporate teaching and management principles.
