Nurse Practitioner

The University Hospitals Cancer Center consistently ranks among the top 25 cancer hospitals in the U.S., holding the National Cancer Institute's highest distinction as a Comprehensive Cancer Center. With that in mind, UH is investing in the future of cancer treatment and research by building a new, free-standing cancer hospital to bring all facets of cancer care under one roof. The new Cancer Hospital, equipped with 120 inpatient beds (+ shelled 30 bed unit), will combine the best technologies, the most effective protocols and the latest findings for cancer care in one 375,000-square-foot, free-standing facility.

Identify, assess and coordinate the care of select Hematological Malignancy and Blood Marrow Transplant Pediatric patient population comprehensive family-centered discharge planning in an efficient and cost effective manner.
Identify patient with complex healthcare/rehab needs.
Assess individual patient and patient populations to identify care/education/rehab needs and develops, implements and evaluates programs to meet these needs and coordinate patient care/collaborates with others.
Practices utilization management.
Patient documentation.
Actively participates in the quality improvement process.
Involved in learning regarding trends in case management.
Data analysis.

Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers.
Initiates and maintains positive relationships with co-workers.
Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment.
Displays commitment to the mission of the hospital and its values

Experience Requirements: Demonstrated competence in identified area of expertise. Prior oncoloy or bone marrow transplant experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Demonstrates a professional demeanor when responding to patients.
Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet education and patient care needs (eg. Stethoscope, cardio-respiratory monitor).

Education Requirements;  Nursing Doctorate or Master of Science in Nursing with Advanced Practice Certification

Licensure Requirements:  Registered Nurse with current license to practice in the State of Ohio;
Certified as a Adult Nurse Practitioner (Family Nurse Practitioner strongly desired) by a certifying body approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing;
Valid and active Certificate of Authority to practice in the State of Ohio by the Ohio Board of Nursing;
Valid and active Certificate to Prescribe in the State of Ohio by the Ohio Board Nursing (when applicable)

Preferred Qualifications: Hematology Oncology experience Preferred. Blood and Marrow Transplant experience.  Optimal Opportunity to practice in a growing program. UH Seidman Cancer Center has a 26 bed dedicated Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit.
