NURSE PRACTITIONER – GASTRO

The Adult Gastrointestinal (GI) Department at St. Joseph’s offers a full range of services to diagnose, treat and manage all digestive problems including esophageal, gastric, small intestine, colonic, rectal, liver, biliary tract and pancreatic disorders in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. In collaboration with the physician, assumes clinical responsibility for tasks performed within Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice, including: taking patient's history, performing physical examinations, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, establishing diagnosis and provide care and management for common illnesses and disease prevention in the adult patient. The NP may assist in the admission, transfer or discharge from Health Care System. Makes appropriate referrals to specialists and community agencies. Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement program. Works within multidisciplinary team to develop plan for the patient and their family. In addition, NP will provide care and management for acutely ill patients, and respond to emergency situations. Assists physicians in the clinic with hospital follow-up or pre-procedure cases. Assists nurse, MA or scheduler streamline consults received, assist physicians answer messages, and pages, review test results, complete forms, etc.
 
This position is critical to the success of St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center and requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Catholic Healthcare West.
REQUIREMENTS:Master's in nursing Graduate of accredited program for nurse practitioners. Certified as a Nurse Practitioner Three years clinical experience in healthcareExperience as a GI NP preferred. AZ RN license or RN License from a Compact State.
