Nurse Practitioner Job in Charlotte 28204, North Carolina US

Position Summary: 
Provides direct comprehensive and compassionate medical care to patients with life threatening/life limiting illness in accordance with the Scope of Practice and is expected to work in an independent and interdependent manner.  Will function in accordance with the North Carolina Medical Board rules and regulations outlining the Scope of Practice (21 NCAC 32M .0102) for nurse practitioners. 


Education and Experience:
  A Master Degree in nursing; current, active, and unrestricted license NC license as Registered Nurse (RN), and official recognition as Nurse Practitioner from NC Board of Nursing.  Successful board certification in specialty within 2 years of date of hire; current and unrestricted DEA and Basic Life Support required.  Minimum 1 year related experience.  Experience in direct care of patients with life limiting illnesses required.  Related experience may include hospice and palliative care; family medicine; internal medicine; geriatrics, oncology; home health care; medical surgical.  Computer proficiency is required


Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).  Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.  Well organized, self-directed and able to manage time.  Flexible, innovative, resourceful and creative.  Ability to interact with patients and family members in a varying psychosocial circumstances complicated by the presence of terminal illness.  Ability to be diplomatic yet assertive.  Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and policies, and sound clinical skills.  Understanding of hospice and/or home healthcare policies, and procedures.  Strong belief in hospice mission.  Excellent ability to work within a team.  Excellent ability to coordinate and foster multi-interdisciplinary care.
