A substance abuse treatment center is looking for an experienced Nurse Supervisor to manage and oversee the nursing division in Far Rockaway. This position needs an RN with years of experience in a primary health care environment, nursing and management. The ideal candidate will have experience, knowledge, and a willingness to continue learning in this fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Supervise and manage nursing department.

·         A “Hands on” position – must work alongside his/her staff in the clinic during most of their shift. This is not an office position.

·         Thorough understanding of clinic workflows.

·         Demonstrates ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, professional manner.

·         Provides personal patient care to provide comfort and well being to clients by acknowledging physiological and psychological needs.

·         Maintains a clean, neat and safe environment for clients.  Ensures that supplies and equipment necessary for patient care are available and stored in a safe and organized manner.

·         Demonstrates safe handling in the cleaning, use and disposal of equipment and supplies.

·         Prepares client folders ensuring that all necessary documentation is recorded and completed by appropriate communication to other staff.

·         Counsels, trains and teaches health care related subjects to clients, family members and other staff members.  Makes recommendations for resident/staff education and training and coordinates provision of staff education.

 

Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge:

·         RN license required

·         Minimum 10 years of RN experience required

·         Minimum 5 years Nursing Supervisory experience required

·         Experience in a primary health care environment preferred

·         Competent in venipuncture, EKG, PPD planting and reading required

·         Have knowledge of Performance Improvement activities

·         Graduate of an accredited Diploma Nursing program and/or graduation from an accredited college or university. 

·         Knowledge of DOH regulations preferred – must be willing/able to learn

·         Data driven and process minded

·         Experience with medication systems preferred 

·         Experience working with substance abuse population preferred
