Job Description    

We’re currently looking for a team lead for our NW Power team to join us in London, supporting Shell Energy Europe Ltd (SEEL). SEEL sells and actively trades energy related products and services associated with European natural gas, power, and environmental products. By combining the market insights and relentless drive for profitability of our trading desks with our established customer relationships and strong experience in sales and 3rd party gas procurement, SEEL can develop a strong competitive advantage and deliver solid results. 
  
SEEL is part of Shell Trading Shipping Company Ltd (STASCo), our principal trading and shipping business. As a Power Trader you’ll be an essential part of the Northern European trading team. You’ll have accountability for trading profits in the Northern European Markets.    Executing power trades within mandated authorities for Northern Europe. 
  
Specific responsibilities will involve :

- Lead the NW Power Trading Team 
- Create and deliver power strategies 
- Deliver power margin targets
- Being the primary interface with customers, both internally and externally
- Sharing information/intelligence across the trading network while managing trading exposure with 
  particular attention to detail
- Understanding and communicating risks effectively
- Analysing fundamental and technical market conditions, devising and implementing profitable trading 
  strategies around these
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines
- Identifying market opportunities and engaging the relevant commercial teams in developing concrete plans to pursue them 
- Building effective relationships with internal stakeholders, and communicating advice succinctly to senior management
- Executing power trades within mandated authorities for South East Europe
- Being the primary interface with customers, both internally and externally
- Understanding and communicating risks effectively
- Identifying market opportunities and engaging the relevant commercial teams in developing concrete plans to 
  pursue them
- Providing recommendations for price exposure mitigation measures 
- Building effective relationships with internal stakeholders, and communicating advice succinctly to senior management. 
- Sharing information/intelligence across the trading network while managing trading exposure with particular 
  attention to detail.
- Analysing fundamental and technical market conditions, devising and implementing profitable trading strategies 
  around these. 
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines

Requirements: 

Educated to degree level, you’ll ideally also have a post-graduate qualification including a strong analytical component. You’ll be able to demonstrate your power trading experience and in-depth knowledge of the European power and gas markets, preferable UK, Nordpool and/or Germany. You’ll also have experience in market analysis, planning, commodity price risk management, and derivates trading /marketing including customer contact or selling “creative" pricing propositions. Ideally you’ll have previous exposure to the gas supply chain in Europe and related terms and conditions.

Confident and self-motivated, your excellent interpersonal and communication skills mean you’ll be able to liaise effectively with all levels of management and other businesses. You’ll have the ability to generate creative solutions to problems. This role is a challenging position within Shell with excellent development opportunities across the Shell group.
