Description
Reporting to the Technical Manager of the Data Management and Reporting Team within the Administrative Systems (AS), this position requires the incumbent to be responsible for supporting the Enterprise Data Warehouse and reporting applications at Stanford, including Oracle databases, OBIEE, Business Objects, Informatica PowerCenter,Brio Grid Control etc. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a track record of effectively administering enterprise information systems that meets user requirements and is secure, reliable, scalable, and extensible.

The Enterprise Data Warehouse Group manages the central data warehouse with plans for integrating data from Stanford’s main ERP systems - Oracle and People Soft, other central systems and the Legacy data stores. The group manages the complete set of tools, Infrastructure and processes involved in the creation and Operation of the Data Warehouse. The group enables reporting of the data through a Business Objects Portal and BRIO reports.

Responsibilities
• Planning, developing, coordinating and managing both application and system changes, in addition to performing database and application administration tasks in a Data Warehouse environment in Oracle and Unix systems.
• Provide on-going system administration and technical infrastructure support for administrative systems, including the deployment of new applications; complete management reports and performance analyses.
• Review the physical design of existing databases for optimal database structures, database performance tuning, security, database backup/recovery strategy, implementing high-availability, and pro-active and reactive performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of issues, capacity planning, monitoring data growth and system utilization, trend analysis and predicting future database resource requirements.
• Establishes and enforces processes to ensure a consistent, well managed, and well integrated data warehouse infrastructure.
• Develop and enforce database administration standards. Participate in the development of standards and procedures for documentation, database programming, database security, backup and recovery, and application production implementations.
• Works with the AS Infrastructure and Architecture group to develop standards and implement best practices for the administration of data across the enterprise; provides oversight and enforcement, to ensure data consistency, integrity and verification of data interfaces between data stores across the enterprise.
• Works with Data Analysts and Application DBA to support optimal physical schema setups, tuning, capacity planning. Plans and oversees the technical transitions between development, testing, and production phases of projects.
• Coordinate with DBAs and server administrators for system-software upgrades and patches with minimal interruption to services
• Monitor database performance and proactively identify issues that may occur using monitoring tools
• Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures security audits.
• Make recommendations for system changes or new systems software, based on cost and/or operational needs and benefits..
• Assist in the evaluation and implementation of marketplace tools and utilities that enhance the database server environment.
• Integrates previous technical, business and personal experience to solve problems, develop new development protocols, etc., where there is little or no precedent to guide the search for information and/or solutions
• Propose technology solutions to business problems which result in higher operational effectiveness and service to internal and external customers
• Conducts in-depth qualitative or quantitative analysis to solve problems, make recommendations and/or to discover new approaches or applications
• Monitor, resolve or coordinate the resolution of trouble tickets.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support, in rotation.

Requirements
• 5 plus years of professional experience as on Oracle Database Administrator is required.
• At least 2 years professional Application Administration experience on OBIEE is required.
• At least 1 year professional Application Administration experience in Weblogic administration is required.
• Demonstrated ability to perform backup and efficient recovery of Oracle databases is required
• Demonstrated ability to identify and tune database SQL code/configurations for optimal database performance is required
• Knowledge of UNIX/OS/Hardware concepts and script automation is required
• Knowledge of Logical volumes, volume groups, UNIX kernel params and Network file systems is required
• Effective verbal and written communication skills is required
• Strong background and knowledge on UNIX platform and shell scripting knowledge is required
• OBIEE 11G experience is preferred
• Professional experience in Application Administration of Informatica Powercenter, Business Objects, Hyperion, BRIO and/or Cognos is preferred
• Previous UNIX System Administration experience is preferred
